If your home was wired for the appliance load of decades ago, modern demand from EV chargers, heat pumps, induction ranges, hot tubs, and home offices can easily outrun your existing panel. A panel upgrade replaces the load center (and often the service entrance) with capacity that fits how the house is actually used today.
We handle the full job: pulling the permit, coordinating the temporary disconnect with NYSEG, installing the new panel and breakers, re-terminating circuits, bringing grounding and bonding up to current code, and getting it inspected. Most residential upgrades are done in a single day with power restored by evening.
Common reasons we get called in Ithaca and the surrounding Finger Lakes: planning for a Level 2 EV charger that won't fit on the current panel, replacing an obsolete or recalled panel (Federal Pacific, Zinsco, Challenger), or expanding capacity ahead of a major addition or generator install.
